Passion, dedication, commitment, determination … key characteristics of educationalists … and equally essential for the ‘edupreneur’!
I’m Lorraine Smith and after 30 years working in education, I’ve finally realised my dream to launch my own business - TeachAbout® to enable me to offer support and sustainable ways of working which promote - rather than destroy - wellbeing!
Having worked in mainstream and special school settings (both primary and secondary) and having held posts as SENCo, Assistant Head Teacher and University Lecturer (NASENCo Award & ITT/ECT) as well as working as an outreach specialist of SEND & Literacy I've a wealth of experience to share in how to get things done and how NOT to do it.
No matter how passionate, dedicated, committed and determined we are, we all have our breaking points.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, stressed, anxious or simply have no idea about the next steps you should take, then I know I can help - after all, I've been there!
Although I can work face-to-face if the locality is right, working online enables me to give support where and when needed.
I enjoy setting up and working with groups and communities.
(See my Facebook links & my TeachAbout Community Network which is currently being reconfigured!)
I also love being your 'additional member of staff' working regularly or on specific briefs to work with you and/or for you on priorities as they arise.
In addition to bringing a wealth of practical and theoretical knowledge and experience to your setting, my core values are implementation and enablement without overwhelm and the setting up of sustainable ways of working which support staff wellbeing.
I was driven to set up Teachabout® to enable me to offer guidance and support and reassurance on a much wider scale.
